Daily Gratitude Year 7-Day 237: Today, I am grateful for reminders to be quick to listen and slow to respond.
I've heard it before but the reminder was good... "Most of us listen to respond." Is that really listening? I know I am guilty of listening to respond at times. It is a hard habit to break, but deeper communication happens when we learn to listen better and listen deeper.
There is tone of voice and articulation of the words that adds to a message. Communication can be very complicated at times. We make it harder when we listen to fast and miss something important.
"Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry." -James 1:19
Many tense situations can be diffused by simply listening fully to what the other person is saying. Quick to listen. Slow to speak. Slow to get angry. We can't always change the situation, but we can change how we listen, speak and cope with trials.
What is the impact of learning to control the tongue? The benefits are endless.
"Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything." -Proverbs 13:3
Today, I am grateful for reminders to be quick to listen and slow to respond.
