Daily Gratitude Year 9-Day 152: Today, I am grateful for the garden surprises.
There are times we know exactly what is planted. The harvest is no surprise. Apple trees grow apples, right?
I can't help but smile at the times we have a garden or orchard surprise. There are times the seeds find their way into the ground and they grow without our knowledge. These are the little surprises we find. They always make me smile.
We don't always know what seeds have been planted. Some are dropped by the birds. Others are from plants gone to seed the previous year. A few, may be the result of a fruit or vegetable that has "gone bad" and the seeds found their way into fertile soil.
We do have to train our eyes as we watch the garden and wait. We have to recognize the unexpected plant or we can accidently "weed" out something good. We must watch and wait. We must not jump to conclusions. We have to let each vine grow and produce in their own time.
"So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessingsif we don’t give up." -Galatians 6:9
Don't give up. He keeps His promises and surprises us with sweetness when we least expect it.
Today, I am grateful for the garden surprises.
