There are days we feel like a failure before our feet hit the floor to start the day. It is easy to think about yesterday's failures and shortcomings. Isn't it good that we can have hope, even in light of our imperfections?
But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. -Lamentations 3:21-23
What wonderful observations! Oh, the promises are wrapped up in this passage! "His mercies... are new every morning." Perhaps that is why we have a sunup, a sundown and night in between to mark a new day. We need rest and then the clean slate of a new day.
However you choose to start each new day, don't forget His faithfulness means we are never alone. Great is His faithfulness. (Oh, Earworm is singing the hymn.)
Today, I am grateful His mercies are new every morning.
