Remember playing outside until being called in because it was dark? Some games were more fun at night. There were times we were called inside before we were ready to be done playing. Oh, the simple joys of summer days and nights with lighting bugs to guide our way through the twilight hour.
Hearing the call and being ready to go... those moments can happen together, but there are times we aren't as responsive as we should be. Sometimes we want to do things our way a little while longer.
We are reminded in the scriptures that God is possessive of His children. He calls us his own children and longs for us to walk in his light:
"But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light." -1 Peter 2:9
We forget we are called according to his purpose. His timing is perfect. We are called to live in the light of His love where there is no need for fear.
Today, I am grateful for the calling.
