A Single Thread of Hope

Gratitude Year 10 - Day 55: Today, I am grateful a single thread of hope is still a powerful thing.

Hope. What a beautiful four letter word. Hope is one of the most powerful forces on the planet. In hope, we hold on... because we have seen a mustard seed grow new life. In hope, we remember the faithfulness of our Living God.

No one says, "Sign me up for that trial or suffering." But when trouble comes, we know we are not alone. In those seasons, his Holy Spirit is with us every step of the way. He never abandons His own.

"Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." -Romans 5:3-5

Why is that discomfort so often proceeds growth, refinement and good things? Think of the marathon runner. The discipline they practice daily pays off on race day. No pain, no gain, right?

Do we hope with tenacity? Do we cling to the promises of God? We can hold tightly  to the unseen hand of the Comforter. In His Word there are so many promises and passages to strengthen us for the hard days. We can "be strong and courageous".

Don't let go. It isn't the end of the story.

Today, I am grateful a single thread of hope is still a powerful thing.
