Adelynn

Year 6 - Day 226: Today, I am grateful for the good news of adoption day.

Today is the day. It is the day long prayed for with hope and expectation, because God keeps his promises. Now... it is here. Adelynn Rayne... you remind us that our God reigns.

Some parents wait while a child grows in a womb. It takes about 9 months. Others are given a different route to parenthood. It is the often long, desert like process of adoption. The wait can feel like forty years... even when it is only fourteen.

It was one of those times that the nearly audible voice of God was clear. This is the one. "Pray big... and I will move big." I wasn't the only one who sensed it.

She arrived in a season of sorrow when a special uncle had died. It is not unlike our God to send us little joy packages in troubled times. This one seemed like an angel. I know that angels have been closely guarding her from her first breath. She is a miracle in many ways. She is the happiest little one. Her joy and contentment is almost unearthly at times. Perhaps it is.

Those who wait upon the Lord, renew their strength, but the waiting is not always easy. Today, we celebrate the waiting places. We celebrate the puzzle pieces (Adelynn loves a puzzle) that only a might God can lay perfectly in place. We celebrate the love of two parents who will not take one day for granted. She is their miracle... and they are equally hers.

The say "blood is thicker that water" but there is no greater love than one who lays down their lives for another. There is no question... love is thicker than blood. I have so many scriptures swimming in my head this special day. I prayed for God to send a Word from His word. Look at this verse of the day:

“And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. -Revelation 3:14,20

This couple has invited Christ in to rule and guide their home. They have heard his voice and seen his face as he has moved their mountain. They have a sincere love for the birth parents of their daughter. It is as love that is honest and true. God has blessed them for their courage to trust His hand and His heart.

When Jesus stood at the door and knocked... they invited Him in to share their journey. Through the days of disappointments, questioning, loss of other children they hoped to love... He was with them. Jesus has been their companion lighting the way when days seemed uncertain and dark. Today, is a day of good new!!

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.” -Isaiah 52:7

Today... a piece of my heart is in Traverse City, Michigan.

Today, I am grateful for the good news of adoption day.
