Teaching

Year 6 - Day 227: Today, I am grateful for my mother's and father's teachings and instruction.

Today is the first day of school for children in our district (many of us have been there for weeks getting ready). Proverbs 1:8 was a great pick for today.

"Listen, my son, to you Father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching."-Proverbs 1:8

This is a picture of our sweet little Elias and his books. He is not ours by blood but in love. His father, Ryan, was our practice baby before our Chase. I love how intent Eli is on his books.

Good instruction begins at home. School and other teachers can grow us. Not all teachers have degrees and not all students are traditional. Learning is something to be longed for, savored, explored and celebrated. The first part of the word question is "quest". Are you ready for a new adventure today?

Still, wherever we go and whatever we do, the whispers of learning from our mothers and our fathers remain significant. We have written their words on our hearts, just as we can write The Word of God on our hearts and let it guide our minds. Good learning is soul food.

Go!  Learn. Grow. Lead. Question. Answer. Savor the opportunity. Take your parents teachings with you to help you sort out the good from the bad.

Today, I am grateful for my mother's and father's teachings and instruction.
