Year 6 - Day 222: Today, I am grateful we can choose how we carry a load.
There are times I need the reminder that we always have choices. Always. Whatever the circumstances or the trial, we can choose how we carry the burden.
I've been stuck on Roman 12:15 for months:
"Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep."
There is choice, not in the circumstance, but in how we respond to it. There's power in the love!
To truly celebrate another's joys without envy or comparision... that is love. To share tears with the broken... that is love. Reaching out to lift up and help another strengthens our hearts.
Today, a family gathers to pray for a little one who has fought for his life from his first breath. A community is with them... praying with hope that this sweet boy will heal and get stronger. Another remembers a precious daughter, and sister as she celebrates another birthday is heaven. Others are on the eve of wedding celebrations. Some wait for test result to be revealed. One special couple will make a long awaited adoption final.
"Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep." Jesus showed us how to get it right. It is his life and ministry in a nutshell. He felt deeply the sorrows and shared joy in the celebrations. Each moment precious... the public and the private moments.
I am reminded of his relationship with Mary, Martha and Lazarus from Bethany. They were friends who were like family. If you have those kinds of friends, you understand the depth of the love. You are doubly blessed... in happy times and in sad.
Perspective is a powerful force. The ones who help us bring it into focus are special gifts from God. Joys and sorrows were both meant to be shared.
Today, I am grateful we can choose how we carry a load.
