Grace Busted In

Daily Gratitude Year 7 - Day 73: Today, I am grateful grace busted in.

There are seasons we feel as if we are paused at a place in life that doesn't make sense. Most of us grow weary when it feels like we are treading water. My friends, in the waiting places, we have opportunities to trust, reflect and grow. I tend to want to skip the boring chapters or the embarrassing ones.

"Have your story flop open to the part where grace busted in. Memorize that chapter and the other ones will make more sense."

There are times, we simply need to stop and reflect on God's track record. He is never late... and he cannot be hurried.

Sometimes, God and I play a game. I pray... "If you have a better verse than the one I have in mind, show me." We played that game today. He wins, again. He always wins. This was my verse of the day:

"In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." -2 Peter 1:5-8

Ultimately, it is our love that makes our knowledge useful. We are never, ever bored on this journey to love him if we actively pursue His heart. In loving Him first and most, it pours out in abundance and helps us love others better. As we put God's directives into practice, the more reflexive the behaviors become. We grow in the grace he bestow on us. He fuels us to show more love and grace to others. He is a "hunk a hunka burning love" (couldn't resist the lyric Earworm is singing).

Friends, culture tells us to "trust our feelings". There are times we have a sense about something. It can be from the Spirit, especially if it challenges us and pushes us outside of our comfort zone. Still, we can't always trust our feelings. All of our doubts, fears and feelings of inadequacy cast shadows that keeps us from finding joy and discovering our purpose.

"Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God.  Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence." -1 John 3:19-21

God is greater than our feelings! Trust the one who broke into our darkness and poured love, light and grace into our lives. He wants us to be confident in His love... driving out fear. It is good to remember the day grace busted in.

Today, I am grateful grace busted in.
