Daily Gratitude Year 7 - Day 64: Today, I am grateful for old letters.
Have you ever found old letters? They hold such mystery and other times, revelations. They are a source of creative energy that inspires novels and movies. They are our memories and a connection to our past.
I adore old letters and we live in a time where a handwritten note is becoming rare and the act of letter writing seems almost archaic in this high tech time.
Some youth are barely familiar with the simple art of writing and posting a letter. Many years from now... there will be no memories we can hold in our hands. I can't tell you how precious a handwritten note becomes when a loved one is gone. The familiar stroke of the pen and the signature become a source of melancholy sweetness. I love old letters.
I find a burning desire to voice a concern for the old things we don't realize are precious, until they are gone. We can choose to be intentional with pen and paper.
I am reminded of the letters in the New Testament. The ones between Paul and the churches are precious notes of concern, guidance and encouragement.
"Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled." -Romans 15:4 NLT
Handwrite a note today. Read an old letter. Celebrate the art of handwriting and letters.
Today, I am grateful for old letters.
