Year 9- Day 114: Today, I am grateful for clean water from a faucet.
Several times today, I have been struck by the luxury of clean water that runs from a faucet. Really, it is with the brush of a hand and in some cases... a mere swipe by a sensor. What a gift.
Clean water is life giving, yet many around the world struggle to find it. We take it for granted every day. Clean water is essential for life.
Jesus spoke these words:
"“Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” -John 7:37-38
Rivers of living water... what an image it creates. If you are thirsty, come and drink. At the time of Jesus, the modern conveniences we use every day had not yet been invented. Water was life. Jesus was telling them that He, too, was life. Pure, refreshing and life giving.
Looking at clean water running from the tap should always be a sweet reminder of life in Christ.
Today, I am grateful for clean water from a faucet.
