Year 9- Day 90: Today, I am grateful for Maundy Thursday.
He washed their feet. He was the sinless one with holy wisdom, and He chose to wash their feet. He broke the bread and served them. Each one had been called and each one had or would disappoint him.
Still, He loved them... with his words and with his actions. When he told them one would betray him, each seemed to know that they could be the one, asking “Is it me, Lord... is it me?”
Judas was the one, but the others knew they could fail Him, too. Peter did three times before the week was over. After the resurrection, Thomas struggled to believe without seeing. The disciples were human. Jesus knew their strengths and weaknesses, yet gave His life anyway. He gave it... it wasn’t taken.
On Maundy Thursday, let us remember the heart of the Savior... “when we were yet sinners”... he died for us. How beautiful are the hands and feet that serve.
Today, I am grateful for Maundy Thursday.
