Do Good & Share

Year 9- Day 131: Today, I am grateful we can do good and share.

This is the best of passages:

"And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God." -Hebrews 13:16 NLT

What is there to love about this scripture?

The wonder of God's instruction is that it sounds like work but turns out to bring great joy. His instructions for living often talk about making our lives a living sacrifice, but in the "sacrifice" there turns out to be something bigger that happens . What sounded like a task or obligation, turns out to be a source of joy.

On Saturday, a dearly loved brother in Christ went to be with Jesus. He was a person who lived a life of love and service wherever he went. He was salt and light in our church and in our community. He adored his wife and sons... and he showed a Father's love to other people's sons, too. He did "good and shared" every single day. The impact he made on us all will echo into eternity.

Kent's hands served. He did his best to see with Jesus's eyes. His humble spirit, although he processed many gifts... is one of the reasons he will be so deeply missed. He was a servant leader and a friend to all.

"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship." -Romans 12:1

Kent's legacy is rich. The dates of his earthly dash seem way too short for those who loved him. We are grateful for the laughter, the light, the lessons, the love and the legacy he leaves in his amazing sons and his beautiful wife.

He has heard that amazing phrase, "Well done, my good and faithful son." The earthly sorrow is real, but so is the joy in heaven.

I am grateful for his life and example.

Today, I am grateful we can do good and share.
