Daily Gratitude Year 8- Day 2: Today, I am grateful for early in the morning moments.
I am a morning person. I adore the morning... especially the hour before light breaks through. It is an hour of anticipation as a new day ahead. It is perfect with hot coffee and a word from The Word.
Gratitude in the morning helps me focus (even if posts are not complete until later in the day). We never know what the day ahead brings. Starting with an attitude of gratitude strengthens us in unique ways and... it lightens the heart. We can't be grateful and miserable at the same time.
Many are returning to work for Thursday and Friday this week and it feels awkward. Holidays midweek mess with our sense of normal. How many walked out the door today trying to convince your brain that today is indeed... a Thursday? Something feels off kilter.
This was a scripture post from my Bible Study group. We are working our way through the Old Testament. This passage stuck like glue. It seems perfect for the return to work after a holiday.
"So David set out with his men early in the morning to return to the land of the Philistines." -1 Samuel 29:11
Were you up early this morning? Do you feel like you are heading into the "land of the Philistines" where the environment may not be friendly? David set out early. He didn't procrastinate.
He took his men with him. He didn't go alone. When we start the day in The Word and with The Word, we don't go alone.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." -John 1:1
"And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:20b
Not everyone is programed for mornings, although I have seen the love of my life change course and embrace mornings in this season of life. Note the time of day that is your favorite and make it count each and every day. Jot down a quick gratitude or two. It doesn't have to be long. An attitude of gratitude is a fierce way to face any new day... especially Thursdays that feel like Mondays.
Today, I am grateful for early in the morning moments.
