New Ways

Daily Gratitude Year 8- Day 6: Today, I am grateful for new ways.

How many times are stuck with less than the best because we hesitate to try something new or to do something different? The status quo is usually comfortable. Even when it isn't... we evaluate the risks and determine that the known is less scary than the unknown.

Courage isn't easy when the opposite is "doing what we've always done". The lure into what is comfortable is strong:

"The most dangerous phrase in our language is "we've always done it this way." -Rear Admiral Grace Hopper

I can't help but notice she chooses the word "dangerous" as a description. I suspect her climb to Rear Admirals in the Navy would not be an easy climb.

We moved into a new office today. We are learning some new ways. What is old feels new as each item lives in a new spot. We need to refigure some behaviors to accommodate the new workflow. Change is rarely easy, but it can be very good.

"Where else can we find "new ways" of doing things. At home? At the market?
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." -Isaiah 43:19

Yes, we do not always perceive it, but we feel it.  We recognize "The Way" in the wilderness and we choose how we will respond.

Today, I am grateful for new ways.
