Shelter

Year 9- Day 26: Today, I am grateful for shelter from wind and rain.

"A little house - a house of my own- Out of the wind's and the rain's way."-Padriac Colum

In January, the elements can be brutal. The winds, the rains, the snows and the ice seem endless at times. We've been blessed with a fairly mild winter thus far. Now, these past couple of days... the reality of the Midwest winter has hit. Baby it's cold outside.

I cannot forget how many do not have real shelter and appropriate clothing for these bitter days. It makes me appreciate, even more, the simple but precious gift of our home. It isn't the biggest or the fanciest, but it is something we are grateful for every day. It is just right for us.

Under the shelter of our own roof, there is a sense of calm and peace. Home is where our hearts return and our feet find rest.

"Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings!" -Psalm 61:4

Are we most at home when we are resting in Him? He is our best shelter from the storms of life. Let the winds blow and the rains fall. We can rest safely under His wings.

Today, I am grateful for shelter from wind and rain.
