Surrounded By Light

Daily Gratitude Year 6-Day 312: Today, I am grateful we can be surrounded by light.

Have you ever sat in a cozy spot surrounded by light? This time of year, I crave the warm, sunny spots. A soft diffused light is not only great for photos, it lifts the spirits.

We have returned to real time with the days growing dark early. Some days, I almost miss the sun on both sides. My innate yearning for the light reminds me that we were designed to live in the light. Our earthly bodies need the darkness to rest, but we live in the light.

This image captured my eye. It is not mine. It an internet free download. I added the scripture because it fit so well. One scripture led to another. I never want to forget that we were given both the New and Old Testament scriptures to allow us to glimpse into the history and mystery of God's relationship with humans. These these two came together easily.

He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light. -Daniel 2:22

This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. 1 John 1:5

God is light and in him there is no darkness. None at all. That is good news for these short days. Even when we long for sunlight, in Christ... there is warmth and light for all of our days. He reveals himself as we seek His face, His heart, His way... His light.

Today, I am grateful we can be surrounded by light.
