Secret Ingredients

Daily Gratitude Year 7 - Day 12: Today, I am grateful for secret ingredients.

Everyone has them in their family tree. That recipe that is special. People tend to think there is a secret ingredient that makes it special. In some cases, that is true. Other times, the secret is using a certain pan or dish.

Recipes are part of a our story. They are a snapshot of days in our grandmother's and mother's kitchens. Cooking touches so many more senses than taste before it makes its way to the table.

What about a recipe for prayer? Jesus gave us a great blueprint for prayer in what we call "The Lord's Prayer". Then, he goes on to explain a little more about the power of His name and the significance of our motives. We ask in Jesus name that the Father may be glorified and so that we may bear fruit.

Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.-John 14:13

You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.-John 15:16

Where families might keep secret recipes secret, Jesus came so that we might see some of the mysteries of God's love for us revealed in his life, death and resurrection. We are promised that the best is yet to come.

Today, I am grateful for secret ingredients.
