Daily Gratitude Year 7 - Day 11: Today, I am grateful for storm warning systems.
One of the blessings of this generation is storm warning systems. There was a time when every winter storm took us by surprise. Today, they can predict with enough accuracy to make people pause and plan for the "what ifs". Some refuse to heed the warnings and face the consequences.
Nature offers signs that farmers and people of the land have watched for thousands of years. Nature never ceases to amaze me. Still, for things like a winter storm... radar and science can really help us plan for safety and survival. Flash and freak things happen, but in many cases, we have good information. We can choose to be alert.
This weekend, a winter storm is on the horizon. As to how hard we will actually be hit, that remains to be seen, but the conditions are right for something big.
I recently read through Revelation. It is a promise of things to come. We do not know when the exact time will occur and the conditions will be right for a glorious return. We must keep our hearts prepared for the possibility.
The Bible offers warning signs about the end of the age.
"You, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know when the master of the household will return—in the evening, at midnight, before dawn, or at daybreak. Don’t let him find you sleeping when he arrives without warning. I say to you what I say to everyone: Watch for him!”-Mark 13:35-37
Be watchful. Be ready. It can happen at any time. Are we preparing for His coming like we prepare for a winter storm? Something to think about on this brisk winter morn.
Be sure... milk and eggs will be flying off the shelves of our local grocery stores today. Don't forget the hot chocolate, too. If we are going to be at home, let's cozy up.
Today, I am grateful for storm warning systems.
