Resurrection Letters Tour

Year 7-Day 126: Today, I am grateful for Andrew Peterson.

Last night, a local church hosted Andrew Peterson for a concert. What a night. My lifelong (not old ;) ) friend, Sally, keeps track of his concerts. He was going to be less than two miles from my house, so she asked if I was interested.

There was not much to consider. YES!

Time with her (and her husband, Lyn) and a great concert, too. For those who ever get a chance to see him... "Go!". It isn't just a concert. Andrew creates an experience. It is his Resurrection Letters tour and he recreated Holy Week for us in song.

He wrote the song "Is He Worthy" that Chris Tomlin has recorded. It is so full of awe and wonder that it had my eyes filling with tears more than once. My favorite... "His Heart Beats" is Jesus kicking death's butt and Satan's with his resurrection. The drum beat feels like a heartbeat. You, literally, feel and hear Jesus's heart beginning to beat again. It still gives me chills and had the crowd on their feet in jubilation.

The lyrics are layers of scripture. As Sally pointed out... "You have to listen many times to get all the nuances." The knowledge of the scriptures, old and new, woven into his music is a result of knowing The Word, reading it and loving it.

My other favorite... "Father Forgive Them" takes the seven things Jesus spoke from the cross and layers them into a haunting melody.

Andrew reminded us that the Easter celebration really continues for 50 days after the resurrection, so "Happy Easter" is a great greeting until June 9th. His humility and sincerity were tangible in the spirit of the evening. It was an incredible night.

Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly! -Psalm 149:1

Today, I am grateful for Andrew Peterson (and a great night with Lyn and Sally).
