Rejoice and Weep

Year 7-Day 135: Today, I am grateful for the ones who share our joys and our sorrows.

"Notice the people who are happy for your happiness and sad for your sadness. They're the ones who deserve special places in your heart." - unknown

What great advice. It isn't original. Look where I found it first:

Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. -Romans 12:15

I never tire of this instruction that points us toward better, deeper and fuller relationships with each other and with our Lord.

We are in the season of weddings, graduations, Mother's Day and Father's Day. There are reasons to rejoice and there are days of grief mixed in as we remember loved ones who are no longer with us hear.

Rejoice and weep. In these simple acts of love and kindness, we find full, rich and meaningful lives.

"Who are the people in your neighborhood?" That was the Sesame street song. It is the people that you meet and greet each day. Some under your roof, some next door or across the street... some at work and at play.

When we love our neighbors, life gets sweeter. I don't believe Jesus meant it to be a "work assignment". He wanted us to embrace a lifestyle that would bear fruit and joy in our lives.

Today, I am grateful for the ones who share our joys and our sorrows.
