A Big, Beautiful Fascinating World

Year 8-Day 143: Today, I am grateful for a big, beautiful, fascinating world.

"Here is is. A big, beautiful, fascinating world." God says. "Do something with it." -Rob Bell, Love Wins

Lately, this world has seemed more crazy than fascinating. At every turn, we need to bend and adjust. My friend, Krys, says, "Be flexible, like Gumby." That always makes me smile. Look up Gumby if you are unfamiliar with the character. He definitely bends.

This season has been one of "recalculating" with the twists and turns. We aren't bored. Every so many days we can throw our hands in the air and yell, "Plot twist!"... because it does seem to twist and turn. Perhaps the best decisions are the days I turn off the media sources and tune out the voices and take in the beauty of this day.

This image reminded me of the flowers of the field. So many of them hold healing qualities beyond what they offer in landscape pizzazz. Yes, beautiful and purposeful, too. They, also, provide the bees with the pollen they need to make honey. Fascinating, for sure. Is it any wonder Jesus pointed us to the flowers:

Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. -Jesus, Luke 12:26

Take it in. Relish the wonder of it all. Someone once said, "The earth laughs in flowers." I think it dances with the dew drops... and sings through rustling leaves. Let heaven and nature sing!

Today, I am grateful for a big, beautiful, fascinating world.
