Year 8-Day 127: Today, I am grateful for the best teams.
There is nothing like a good team! When there are big jobs to get done or small ones that require extra care, the right team makes all the difference.
"The best teams are made up of a bunch of nobodies who love everybody... and serve anybody... and don't care bout being somebody." -Phil Dooley
That about sums it up. Too many times, ordinary people get overlooked, when there is potential for doing great things. Partially because of the fear of failure or insecurities based on feeling unworthy of the call.
The truth is, when ordinary people come together and really care about someone or something, it can change the world. It is the place where grass roots movements are born.
I am reminded of a dozen men who experienced the extraordinary about 2000 years ago. The eclectic band of brothers... and the sisters in their circle... experienced Jesus in the flesh. His life, his death and his resurrection changed everything for them.
He taught them about loving everybody... the nobodies, the every-bodies and the somebodies. Their mission to go, to teach and make disciples is still going strong. It has echoed into the ages and continues to impact the world.
There is still room on the team. New members are always welcome and needed. Don't worry about past history or special credentials. Team members need only recognize the reality of the resurrection, respond with repentance and receive the gift of new life. There is always room on the team.
"because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved." -Romans 10:9-10
There is always room on His team and at His feet.
Today, I am grateful for the best teams.
