One Link At A Time

Year 8-Day 128: Today, I am grateful for one link at a time.

"It is a mistake to try to look to far ahead. The chain of destiny can only be grasped one link at a time." -Winston Churchill

I am enjoying some of his quotes this week. He knew difficult times and the weight of hard decision. This quote struck me fresh and new this week.

"One link at a time" is a little like "one day at a time", right? Except, in a chain we see that everything is connected. One week link can cause it to break. We need to focus on one link at a time, but never each link is a part of the chain.

Our God is a big picture God. Our stories are unique as we discover who he is and our purpose. Our stories may have moments that feel like shiny, new links. Others links may be a little rusty and weathered because they took on some form of exposure to the elements. Still, they are connected.

There is a fairly recent song that has these words in the lyrics, "God's not done writing your story." Hallelujah for that big, bold truth.

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Take it one link at a time. Your destiny is promised, but there may some links in the chain may face the storms. Hang in. Hang on. Hang up the worry beads. Give thanks in ALL circumstances. When the circumstances are a challenge, be grateful for one development at a time.

Breathe.

Today, I am grateful for one link at a time.
