Today is not one of those days, but there is always something to be grateful for... even on the hard days.
Of all the hard seasons that have come and gone over the past 7.5 years of gratitude... this one rings a little differently. This one has me wondering what the world will look like at Christmas. Can we find a way to not just heal, but to heal stronger than we were before.
One of the times Walker broke an arm, I was feeling out of control and helpless as a parent. The orthopedic specialist encouraged my heart by saying, "Mama, this boy's bones will be stronger where they were broken."
What an encouragement that was to my soul! Stronger where we have been broken... that is what we need to be.
I am reminded that love begets love. Prayer matters. How we treat each other matters. Our attitudes can be helpful or a hindrance. Our words can be helpful or hurtful. I want to avoid the hurtful.
See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. Always be joyful.Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.-1 Thessalonians 5:15-18
Lord, help us see with your eyes and feel with your heart. Let us love without fear and find the hope that is only in you. Be with our brothers and sisters everywhere... those marching in peaceful protests to right wrongs, those in the blue line of protection, those hiding behind locked doors and those who are facing thieves and break ins. You look at the heart. Move in the hearts of those who know your word and whisper peace into this storm. In Jesus name we trust. -Amen
May we be stronger where we've been broken and more compassionate where we've been hurt.
Today, I am grateful we can be stronger where we've been broken.
