He Is Risen!

Daily Gratitude Year 10 - Day 108: Today, I am grateful He is risen!

Keeping it simple today.

He is risen. He is not here. He has defeated death. Love won!

"He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen." -Matthew 28:6

An instrument of torture has become a symbol of forgiveness, love beyond measure and hope.

A few years back I had a conversation with a friend. I told him I rarely wore a cross... not because I was ashamed of it... but the exact opposite. I held a deep fear of bringing shame to my Lord.

Worse... what if my behaviors stood in the way of someone else taking a closer look at life in Jesus? I get so many things wrong.

My friend replied that he looked at it differently. He said, "I think of it as a price tag." Wearing a cross is a constant reminder of what we cost Jesus.

I've never forgotten the conversation. In fact, I began to rethink my wearing of a cross. A cross is not a talisman of protection. It is not magical. It is a very real reminder of the price Christ paid for each one of us. His love was so deep and wide it carried him through the beatings, the betrayal, the abandonment and up to the hill we call Calvary.

Nails didn't hold him on that cross. Love did. He conquered death for us. Now, we can face the future fearlessly. That is Good News!

Wearing my price tag.

Today, I am grateful He is risen!
