Year 6-Day 272: Today, I am grateful for no whining zones.
Trials are inevitable. Whining is a decision.
On this first day of the work week, I love a vocabulary word.
Querulous (quer·u·lous) : (adj) complaining, whining;complaining in a petulant manner
Wherever we go, we take our attitudes with us. We can be a complaining source or a positive force.
Mama used to tell Dad to do an attitude check if he came home grumpy. I love that she modeled that attitude was a choice and not something we let others dictate. Bad days happen; how we manage them is a choice.
This is a scripture I have loved for years. It is found twice in Proverbs. Solomon must have had some experience with quarrelsome wives and he had a palace.
"Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife." -Proverbs 24:25
Complainers wear us out.
We can choose on this day to raise the bar when it comes to not complaining. If a job at work, at home or in the community needs done... do it. Model non-querulous behaviors. I am hearing the dwarves from Snow White singing "Whistle while you work." (Thanks Earworm.)
We can't always choose what needs to be done. We can always choose our attitudes.
Today, I am grateful for no whining zones.
