“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.”
Palm Sunday is sometimes called "The Triumphal Entry". The crowds were hyped. They could not get enough of Jesus. Those who knew him longed to spend more time in His presence. Those who hated him were silently plotting his demise. Knowing the thoughts of those around him must have been a cumbersome burden to bear. Still, He pressed on.
Palm Sunday felt like a celebration of people coming to see him as the Messiah. At least, that is how it must have felt. Human emotions can be so fickle. It is hard to fathom that in one week Jesus went from the triumphal entry to the cross. What a difference a week can make.
I am reminded how quickly our lives can change, too. Not all change is bad, but it is rarely easy and comfortable. It is a reminder to embrace the good while it is here and to not fret about what can change in a heartbeat.
Today, I am grateful for Palm Sunday.
