The Twelve Days of Christmas

Daily Gratitude Year 10-Day 354: Today, I am grateful for The 12 Days of Christmas.

I remember enjoying the song as a child. Now, it is not my favorite because it takes forever to finish, but I adore the meaning behind the 12 Days.

Each one has a connection to faith. When Queen Elizabeth 1 of England took the throne, she forbade the practice of faith. Each of the verses has a connection to faith. It helped children and adults alike to not forget the meaning of their faith.

Joseph and Mary were a poor couple and doves were one of the acceptable sacrifices for the poor. Two turtle dove are to help them remember Joseph and Mary. Or, the Old and New Testament - depending on which explanation you read.

Jesus, the baby in the manger, is the partridge in a pear tree.

It is good to have little songs and games that help us remember the reason for the season.

And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.” -Luke 2:12

Today, I am grateful for The 12 Days of Christmas.
