The Wind is Still

Daily Gratitude Year 10-Day 340: Today, I am grateful when the wind is still.

This past week we have had some cold but windless days. It makes the colder month more bearable when the wind is still.

My Sister-in-Love, Jennifer, is quick to bring these kinds of days to my attention. She lives where the wind is almost never absent. The gift of the stillness does not go unnoticed.

I adore Winnie the Pooh and his friends. Piglet was known to fret over the blustery days. I, too, can lose focus on what is important when the winds start to blow. It is easy to obsess over things we cannot change or control. There is wisdom in the sage advice of "let it go."

This passage from Psalm 107 celebrates the stillness, after God calms the wind and the waves.

He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves.  What a blessing was that stillness  as he brought them safely into harbor! -Psalm 107:29-30

Yes, celebrate the calm. Savor the stillness.

Today, I am grateful when the wind is still.
