Zechariah's Prophecy

Daily Gratitude Year 10-Day 354: Today, I am grateful for Zechariah’s Prophecy.

“And you, my little son, will be called the prophet of the Most High, because you will prepare the way for the Lord. You will tell his people how to find salvation through forgiveness of their sins. Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us " -Luke 1:76-78

This passage is extra sweet in the NLT translation. You can feel the deep affection Zachariah has for his little miracle we would know as John the Baptist. He has been mute for Elizabeth's  pregnancy. When his tongue was set free, he spoke boldly and prophetically. There is so much in this passage.

Zechariah's love for his son and the knowledge that he will play a part in the story of Jesus comes out like a song. You can hear his first hand knowledge of God's mercy when his human doubt played out.

God forgave his unbelief and blessed him. He announces that Jesus will come in light from heaven. He is the morning light breaking into our darkness.

As Christmas draws near, "the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us."

Be still my soul.

Today, I am grateful for Zechariah’s Prophecy.
