Most of us learn fairly quickly, life can change in an instant. I have been guilty of wasting today's joys fretting over troubles that may never happen. These days, I like to make a concentrated effort to embrace and celebrate the right now.
The song, Seasons of Love (525,600 Minutes), is a song people will sing one hundred years from now and still feel it in their souls. It is a beautiful piece. The author felt his musical needed a song with a gospel feel. "Seasons of Love" definitely qualifies.
A year in a life can bring love or loss. It can bring regret or redemption. A new life takes 9 months to grow in the womb... less than a year. It can be the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one.
"Then God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years." -Genesis 1:14
The lights in the sky help us to separate the day from the night and mark the days.
He called us to live in the light and be changed by it. Embrace the relationships. Lift each other up. Carry each other's burdens. Laugh out loud. Don't waste a moment.
Today, I am grateful for a year in the life.
