Spidey Senses

Daily Gratitude Year 10 - Day 135: Today, I am grateful for "Spidey senses".

Mama Ina Mae had Spidey senses. Most Mama's do. They know when we are doing something we shouldn't and they likely know whose idea it was. Right?

So you have Spidey senses about something? For some, it happens in the kitchen. They get the pie crust right, the gravy perfect and a cake is never over baked. Many can use the same recipe but each outcome is slightly different. One is superior. The secret? Spidey senses.

Some medical professional sense when a birth is near, or if there are problems. They know before modern technology gives them evidence. They learn to trust their gut.

I have a weird one. I've shared it before. 75 degrees (23.89 degrees Celsius) is my perfect temperature. When it goes off, I take a screenshot and send it to Randy, Matthew and Jennifer. There is something energizing to me when the temperature pauses at 75 degrees. There is a bone-deep awareness.

Those who spend time in nature become more sensitive to what is around them from the scents in the air to the sound... or absence of certain sounds. Our Native American ancestors worked to sharpen their instincts.

When we spend time with God, we become more sensitive to His Spirit, too. We can "know things" in our spirits. We have to choose to listen or not listen. We can be filled with awareness. This passage is from one of the prophets:

"For as the waters fill the sea, the earth will be filled with an awareness of the glory of the LORD." - Habakkuk 2:14 NLT

Do we long to be filled with an awareness of the glory of the LORD? Do we long for our Spidey senses to go off... or does it scare us? The more time we spend in The Word, in praise and in chasing the heart of Jesus... the more we will truly know He is present and active in this world.

Spiderman's senses went off when danger was near. Sometimes, God works like that, too. Note that most of the time, if a prophet shows up, the people are way off course. Often, they are so far off course that God is considering a major judgement. Prophets don't show up with "Atta boys!" and "Way to go girls!". Most of the time, the prophets are delivering some kind of a warning. Sometime, it was final warning. (Sodom & Gomorrah)

Tuning in to His will and His way often means we must find a way to quiet our thoughts and our hearts until we hear only Him. How do you know when it is really from God?  Often, it is counter culture and might seem crazy to anyone simply observing.

"You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. " -John 4:22-24

Gloria Gaither once told Mark Lowry, "God is in the interruptions of my life and He is seldom in my plans."

Can I get an "Amen!"? It is a simple observation that validates the knowledge of His hand, even if it isn't in our plan.

Today, I am grateful for "Spidey senses".
