Kindness

Daily Gratitude Year 9 - Day 290: Today, I am grateful for kindness.

"Kindness: Loaning someone your strength instead of reminding them of their weakness." -Andy Stanley

It is a great definition of kindness. Any opportunity to show kindness and grace toward another human is really an opportunity to loan them your strength. People need kindness most when they are lost, lonely, hungry, tired or weary. At our ugliest moments, we need kindness even more.

"If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly." -Romans 12:8

Friday, one of the kindest souls we've ever known was called home. Our sweet Anna (Ryan dnd Anna Ullrich Leander), her Mama and her family watched  a dear Dad, devoted husband, a tireless grandfather, a beloved brother, treasured son and a fun uncle take his last breath on earth. We have to wonder at his first breath of heaven? How many rushed to meet him because of the light he shined while he was here on earth? His testimony was bold, sincere and sprinkled with joy.

We are really going to miss the many times we were together at Ryan and Anna's, sharing in family celebrations. We will always be grateful for Randy's kindness and the way he impacted the world around him.

We neve know the value of a moment until it is gone. We may never know the impact of kindness spent on this side of heaven, until we are home with the Father. Thank you Randy Ullrich for your example of kindness bearing testimony to your Lord.

Today, I am grateful for kindness.
